Well it seems that winter needs a bit of punching up, something to get me moving internally and externally so here I am blogging. February in the prairies of Canada can do strange things to a person who is usually pretty positive, moving forward and high energy. that would be me!
Right now, the most positive word I can use to describe my state of being is NEUTRAL. Not really focussed on any project or goal, which is not at all like me.
In my "real" work I will often talk about controlling what you can control , and letting the rest go. I need to listen to my own advice. I am in the middle of a real Canadian winter, and here I am in Winnipeg until it is finished (at least that is what I say today).
so in the spirit of looking for inspiration, the first person to give me a new idea for something to make in pottery that is fun, useful and hopefully esthetically pleasing will win a 20.00 certificate for pottery.

This isn't really a new idea... or even very useful. But I really like the way it looks. Gives the house an old world kinda look. How about a clay tissue cover? I'm kind of obsessed with these things lately. Here's an example I found on Etsy of one (although there aren't very many and none seem to have decent photos): http://www.etsy.com/listing/61787972/tissue-box-cover-with-poppies
I'm having a serious moment in neutral this week as well. It always seems I get this way at the beginning of February. It'll pass once the sun shines for a few days. :D
Or... I have another idea. What about the long thin cylinders to put bamboo skewers in to hold knives. I made one out of dollar store stuff and it's one of my favourite (and most useful) kitchen organizers. Here's a link to the post for the one I did: http://blog.tawnybee.com/2010/03/how-to-bamboo-knife-holder.html
Wouldn't that cylinder look so awesome in hunter green? You could even wrap a doily around it to give it an ornamental design. :D
I would really love to see a hand shape for using as a ring holder/display
where the wrist is on the table and the fingers point up, could be tree shaped, just something with juts for putting rings onto....
