Keeping up with the Pop Ups

This week it is game on, for transitions and setting up another Pop Up Shop here in Winnipeg. The demand shown for handmade and vintage yesterday at the Etsy MIC sale yesterday, which was attended by 3000 people makes me very hopeful for our next three months at Exchange Uporium at 164 McDermot and the new shop, FLASH at 438 Graham Ave. This is a photo from one of our television spots on Global, and CTV the other day.

Today me and Mr. G will go over to FLASH and set up my space with the black and white, turquoise and red pottery. Our soft opening is October 1, from 6-8 pm. Consider yourself invited!!! Kat has lots of dynamic activities planned, and I am pumped to be part of this. I am mindful that I need to find time to create and fire during this time too, so glad I dont have any more Saturday shows until November 1, 2014 at Morden in their Access centre. The Pembina Hills Arts Council broke a record and sold out the show in less than a month.

Throwing.....

I still have three days maximum in which I can throw pieces for this kiln.  I realize this doesnt mean much to non pottery people, or even to people who have their own kilns.  I still fire a few times a year in the Stoneware Studio gas kiln with my wonderful partners, Ray and Ted.

However, as it is a cooperative studio, cooperative is the operative word.  I need to stop throwing to let pieces dry, so they can be bisqued here at home, then transported to the studio, where they are glazed when there is time and space, so that I am not stepping on anybody elses toes (literally or figuratively).  then we load, hopefully at a time of day that is relatively tranquil.  That means we start before 8 am usually.

I best get on the wheel as I just got a big order for a hopefully repeat customer. Onward with plates , mugs, and soap dishes!!!!

Marathon, home srretch

Yup, the refining and tweaking of how to achieve balance continues.  I am on the fourth day, ône day for set up included of the biggest show of the year.  Biggest, in terms of vendors, and folks attending.

Well, first for the good news, some of my pots are going to have interesting lives with their new owners.  I always say that my pots need a home , other than mine.  One turquoise leaf plate is going to a woman who makes her own goat cheese, and by the way I used to work with her dad, but I didnèt find that out till half an hour into the conversation. That was fun.
It was not so fun, to try and complete two sales with last minutes customers, and have the lights turned out. I really didnt want to try and find my way out in the dark.

more stories to come, but I better put on my jacket, and get over there. Hoping to come home with shelves and empty boxes!!!

Spring Colours in all shapes and sizes!

Bowls, bowls and more bowls, yarn bowls, berry bowls, little bowls , bowls with plates and cups.  I seem to be very firmly entrenched in vessels that hold food. this weekend, great progress was made on getting the yard and garden ready for spring, so I can grow food to put in the bowls. All very sensible if I look at the big picture. And of course, coffee cups and wine tumblers to aid my failing energy and tired muscles.
